| Signs of New Life on Camphill |
|
Camp Hill, Nuneaton, is an exciting and interesting place to be at this time! As well as the new Regeneration Building Programme taking place, many new doors of opportunity are opening up on the estate to take the love of Jesus to the people.
A few months ago, the Authorities of Pride in Camp Hill approached the Camp Hill LifeGroup to be active with “Love and Care in the Community and Spiritual Input” on the estate – What a wonderful invitation! One not to be missed! At the same time Youth With A Mission (YWAM – an organisational headquarters located nearby) offered their support to work alongside us on Camp Hill. Now, there are the first signs of God moving here amongst the vulnerable people – elderly, children and youth, already into 2008. We have started a monthly church-service in the local elderly people’s home of Drayton Court, Cedar Road. The enthusiastic and warm welcome we have received from this Home is just great and we know that many of these dear people will come to know that Jesus loves them and cares about them now and always. Also, it was a real privilege to take the Christmas show held at New Friends, King’s Community Church, Bedworth, to the Luncheon Club on Camp Hill. New Friends from King’s, and YWAM enjoyed a roast lunch with the Club, provided by Patrick at the Diners Café, a new facility recently opened up here, which is keen to serve us in any way they can! The 40+ people gathered thoroughly enjoyed the fun, laughter, and antics of the pantomine put on by the New Friend’s Team. Already there is a warm welcome at the club and we are looking to do more for this age group this coming year. Youngsters in the Youth Clubs are being blessed by Young People from YWAM joining in and getting to know them. They, and the Camp Hill LifeGroup, both have plans to help the elderly, disabled and single mums with practical help like gardening, decorating and so on. Signs of Life? Yes! It is so exciting to see so many opportunities to get involved here and touch people’s hearts and lives with God’s Love. We are grateful for all the support, advice and encouragement from the Camp Hill Authorities and for all the willing hands and hearts that are coming forward to reach out to the Camp Hill community. God says “I’ve taken a good long look at their affliction, I’ve heard their cries, I know all about their pain. Now I have come down to help them.” (Exodus chap 3 vs. 7-8. The Message Bible). Thank-you God! Jim and Marie Morris. |
